No Weatherspoons for me! :D

Netizens, soz for the delay.
So luckily I will not be able to come home this weekend; our launderette is failing to work at the student accommodation as the buttons don't work and so going to a local laundrette to have the laundry done has eaten up all my train ticket money... oh deary me! At least I can dodge that day out with beetroot friend. She wasn't too happy about it.
The last few weeks have gone so fast! And faster than I thought as I have 9-5 days a lot :( Still got to see beetroot friend around Christmas so I'm dreading that, but at least I'm off the hook for now.

Planning to do something for Halloween; I never normally celebrate it but I expect everyone is going to do something here. I was thinking of ordering a 'Scream' mask online but then I realised that people here always look like that with the amount of time they spend up late at night when they should be sleeping. Therefore I'll stick to the safest plan of cooking chicken and possibly adding a pumpkin sauce... Might also buy some Mr Kipling Halloween cakes for afters. :D

Coming home on Saturday

So I am once again returning home on Saturday and I am meeting up with beetroot friend. Her real name is Lois by the way :p We were going to go to Jimmy Spice's to have a chilli eating competition but instead she decided on Weatherspoons because if I am honest, she is a complete and utter cheap skate. She even gets me to use my NUS card to get her discounts! Am actually dreading the prospect of meeting her because all she is going to do is keep going on about our old school and all the old friends who I have escaped from! And also chickens... she seems obsessed by the subject having asked me to take a photo of my chicken in the fridge.

I didn't, so instead I sent her this Google image. Didn't fool her so she kept harassing me about them. Sure taking an extra year in sixth form is driving her nutty; she'd fit in well in the biomed lab.

I am starting to get a bit tired of chicken now... so I was thinking of getting a turkey instead as they are starting to appear in the shops. Not quite sure how I will get it into the freezer, but perhaps if I cut it into small lumps it should fit in nicely. If not I will take up next door's offer on the baseball bat to shove it in. I just hope no-one opens the freezer door too late at night or else it will look like like a Saw movie.

I've got another 'friend'. She knows who she is, her name begins with 'T'. It is a shame that she works on Saturdays otherwise she could come to the dreaded meal with beetroot friend and keep her under control. That said, I usually usually get pleasure from hitting friend 'T' with my handbag. Don't know why if I'm honest, just makes me chuckle. Hahaha! :D I have a sneaking suspicion that if I pop home at the weekend, 'T' plans to put cakes through my letter box. I like to eat her cakes even though I hit her with my handbag. :) C'est la vie as the say!

Online shopping

So yeah, my online shopping now has chicken fillets, not a whole chicken this time. At least they won't be useful as an effective hockey puc. I also went to the shops the other day, and bought a tin of sweetcorn but forgot the darn tin-opener. I tried to open it by throwing it at the wall but decided to stop when a big dent appeared both in the tin and the wall and the person next door was banging on the wall telling me to shut up or else they'd get their baseball bat. I said that this would be useful in helping to open the tin. They weren't amused. At least with online shopping you can't really forget openers as easily but why are there so many varieties when they all do the same thing? Why should I use a butterfly type over an electric one? There are also even also ones that lift the lid off in one go. Who needs all these types, unless of course you live at Downton Abbey.

Our lecturer told us that the brains we will be looking at in class are those of students who failed to do the work well.... I am now terrified. When I heard that university was a new experience, I hadn't realised that prodding around with an ex-student's brain would be one of them. Who needs the 31st of October and Fright Nights when you can just take a trip to our biomed labs?

I have so much work to do and have no inspiration. I went on TSR instead and spoke to beetroot friend. She told me to listen to music, which I hadn't thought of. I also didn't know what to write for my report but found out in a textbook from the library. I wonder if the library has any good textbooks for student cooking...
A Google search was no good; all the sites were the same. They kept being silly and saying things like Required: one student, big cooking pot, open fire, people to chase after student etc. I just wanted a basic chicken fillet recipe. One said pureed chicken is nice, so I'll give that a try. I have read somewhere that braised tripe is good, nutritious and cheap on a student budget particularly if braised with onions. I'm guessing it tastes like mince as it looks like it... Might give it a whirl.

Xmas

So I've been messaging my friend and we've decided to meet up over xmas. Not sure where we are going to go but not Jimmy Spice's; when we last went there my friend decided to challenge herself and ate a whole chilli. After going red-faced she persisted in laughing hysterically, prompting any close by-standers to awkwardly and slowly edge away. It was like talking to a living beetroot.
Afterwards we (I went with another friend too ;) ) went to H&M. There were two shops just across from one another so whilst my other friend was looking at the clothes, myself and the beetroot-chilli friend hid in the next shop. I led the way to hide... but went straight to the maternity section! Was largely embarrassing.  The beetroot-chilli friend said 'Is there something you're not telling me?' 'NO!' I said clearly, swallowing hard and not knowing where to look. We hurried over to the jumper section and then to the shoes.

My friend couldn't decide whether to buy some red canvas shoes or not so we had an in-depth pro and con conversation with annoyed women trying to reach the shoes behind us. She got them in the end. Was asking her the other week if she was going to wear them but forgot the forecast was for rain. She said that she'd look as though her feet were bleeding profusely if she got them wet.

Anyway, I hope that it will be as fun as the lunch at Weatherspoons with the same beetroot-chilli friend and another (different) friend. We couldn't decide on a film and when I said that it was all 'a blur', beetroot friend kept cracking jokes by saying 'We should see A Blur' in a French accent.  When 'Katy Perry-A Part of Me' was suggested, beetroot said, 'What, so we only get to see one part of her, like her hand throughout the entire film? Waste of money.'

No idea where to go still... well. At least I have half term in a week to think... so I won't be able to blog for a while :(

I signed up to the wrong course.

So we have been doing some weird stuff in biomed which has lead me to suspect that I have actually signed up to either 'how to care for your Frankenstein' or 'how to effectively torture people'.  We had to have electric shocks given to us and we are also going to have to look at dissected brains. Yum! That reminds me that I have decided to have the chicken with a grilled marshmallow topping and pot noodle hair. :D We also have to take blood samples from ourselves... no doubt the lecturer is a vampire...
Spoke to my friend again...  she was pulling funny faces using the mirror effect on messenger plus :D

Well Halloween is approaching and I'm planning to get a pumpkin and carve it out with one of the extra questionably large scalpels from the lab. I would get  a plastic cat or spiders but I utterly terrified of them, real or fake. Currently the new phrase is Hubble bubble, toilet trouble as we've had to call Dynarod for the fourth time this week as someone who was playing indoor hockey with my defrosting chicken clumsily hit it into the toilet pan in an own goal. Well they were the ones to use the bathroom door frame as a goal! That really was money down the pan! Though I reckon the reason the chicken slid into the toilet pan so fast was because it was poultryfied!

I have decided to not go into town to get food as it is far away and aimed at people with memory loss; nearly all the shops have a double. Two Boots shops- who really needs two of them? I have instead ordered online another replacement chicken, orange juice and an inexhaustive supply of biscuits. I may make chicken crumble on Wednesday in an orange sauce...
As we are learning about type 2 diabetes, I intend to fully understand the symptoms of it with excessive sugar consumption :)
I'll write more soon :)

The frozen chicken

Hi guys! :) So I arrived at Keele (ok...a while ago. I've only just gotten round to blogging!). It is quite small here... there are around 30 of us in this student accommodation block but a tiny kitchen unit! We each have a small section of a freezer but it was murder trying to shove that chicken in there. One of its legs kept poking back out. I also have some pasta from home... I reckon I am going to get tired of keep having this wretched stuff... so instead I have opted for supernoodles which will be the staple part of my diet :D I'm a bit worried abut how to cook this chicken as the microwave is tiny and this chicken is a great big brute!
The internet is poo round here and when talking with a friend on Skype it kept freezing horribly so they looked as though they were having a fit. :( We also had to keep shouting because of the dodgy connection and repeating everything we said over 300 times. It was awful trying to ask how the weather was.

I have also brought my giraffe-dog-thing along. I don't actually know what it is as it is short and fat like a dog but has giraffe skin. I have included a photo :)

I'll write more soon :D
